Once the clocks go back it takes some adjusting to the sun setting so early. I for one like waking up to natural light so I don’t mind a little more sunlight in the morning. Also, I don’t mind the sun setting earlier because of quarantine and not really going out as much as I would like/used to so if it’s already dark out I don’t feel terrible for being in the house watching Netflix LOL! Also, growing up after school I’d go to my grandma’s house after school and my mom would pick us up after 5 so it’d be dark already by the time we got home, so it’s a little nostalgic for me when this time of year rolls around. ALSO, it’s just ANOTHER sign that CHristmas is around the corner!!
Anyway, here are some ways to stay positive and stress-free year round but especially now…
1. Get Grounded:
I just started going for walks during my lunch right before the clocks rolled back and I actually look forward to it. I used to go to the park almost everyday to walk and for some reason just fell out of going…I’m so happy I started again. It’s super important to get out and get fresh air daily. It clears your mind and keeps you grounded and one with nature LOL also, gets those steps in!
2. Yoga/Stretching:
I LOVE yoga. Try doing at least 15 minutes daily to destress and clear your mind. I love doing MadFits stress relief stretch routine when I clock out from work to just unwind and recenter.
3. Read:
I have always LOVED reading because it just takes you into another world and you forget everything else that’s going on around you. If you’ve never read Harry Potter I highly recommend picking up the series, especially this time of year! It’s the perfect fall/Christmas series of books & movies!
4. Brew some Tea:
DECAF of course. If you’re trying to destress try making a cup of tea instead of pouring a glass of wine, believe me I know it’s hard but it’s so much more satisfying and will take the “edge off” a lot better than alcohol will! Don’t get me wrong I LOVE a crisp glass of pinot while I cook my dinner or watch Housewives but there’s something about making a cup of tea and snuggling up to read or journal and just relax.
5. Take a Bath:
There is nothing more relaxing than lighting candles and getting into a nice warm bath. I set my iPad up and watch an episode of whatever (probably Housewives) and just soak LOL! Afterwards, I’ll turn on the shower just to wash my body real quick then put on comfy PJs and hop into bed and read. Trust me, you’ll thank me.
I hope these tips helped and everyone is staying healthy and safe! If you have any other tips leave them in the comments below.
That’s all…xxTay!
