Welcome back to Tay’s Book Club! Here’s what I read last month and my thoughts!
The People We Keep: 5/5 This was probably the best book I’ve read this year. When I started it I didn’t think I was going to like it because I just couldn’t relate but the more I read the more I got invested in April’s life and couldn’t help but root for her until the very end. She is out through so many obstacles and somehow (somewhat) finds her way to the other side of them. As a you g girl struggling at home, in school and with her one true passion, music, she just wants to find her place in the world and you won’t put this book down until you find out if she does.
Untamed: 5/5 my first audible book! I highly recommend this book. This book was so well written and makes me want to read the rest of her books. This book was really inspiring and uplifting and I feel like I learned a lot from it. She is a great author, speaker and person and I kinda wanna be her friend especially after the part on the book where she wrote she doesn’t text back and she likes to stay me lol #guilty
Back in the Burbs: 3/5 This was a typical rom-com. It was free on audible so I downloaded it for my road trip back to Buffalo, NY from Charlotte, NC. It definitely helped pass time as it had it’s funny and unexpected twists and turns but I’d say it was a little drawn out and predictable. Which is one of the reasons why I love rom-coms because I always know what happens. This book starts with a young woman getting divorced from her cheating lawyer husband who sucked the life and everything else he could get out of her and now wants more. She moves back home and into her deceased aunts house and begins to make a life on her owns with a little help from her friends. The book unfolds a lot of secrets and at one point I couldn’t help but thinking some secrets are better left as secrets LOL all and all though it was a pretty good book and I’d recommend. (audible)
One Last Stop: 4/5 I need to start reading the synopsis for books I pick and stop basing my choice on the cover of the book LOL this book was definitely not what I expected but I ended up really liking it. A young woman moves to NYC to find her place and ends up with so much more. She makes friendships and discovers and a relationship only written about in novels LOL if you’re a hopeless romantic you’ll live this book.
The Heart Principle: 5/5 I finished this book so fast I just couldn’t put it down even though I knew how it would end LOL it was so well written and had the cutest yet real story. I loved that both characters had their own “flaws” that made them perfect for each other and gave them a little more than any other romcom book I’ve read. Highly recommend.
That’s all…xxTay!
