One of my best friends from college got married this weekend! The wedding was 3.5 hours away in the Thousand Islands, such a BEAUTIFUL place! Going out of town for a wedding means packing and preparing for trip ahead. Not only are the regular necessary preparations involved but now you have to remember not to forget anything…I know, TRICKY!
First, start with the things you can’t do last minute being away:
1. Obviously, spray tan!
2. Nails
3. Dress
4. Shoes
5. Accessories
6. Gift/card (Max & I went to a wedding out of state a couple years ago & forgot a card. So we had to grab a card across the street from the venue at a Walgreens the night of…don’t be this last minute!)
7. Undies (sometimes your dress calls for a certain pair of undies…)
Make sure all of this is done before the night before…or else, you will be running around all night & may run out of time & not have time to get your nails done… I’m a night before girl, that’s why I didn’t have time to get my nails don but I also had to work ‘til close the night before so I really couldn’t have done this the night before. I usually get the main things out of the way though & always, no matter how hard I try, leave packing ‘til the night before or the morning of & it doesn’t help that Max is the exact same way!
Speaking of packing…
What should be in your bag/suitcase (Max & I started taking suitcases so we can fit all of our stuff in one & it helps keep everything organized & less wrinkled):
1. Outfit
2. Hair tools
3. Shoes
4. Shower supplies
5. Makeup
6. Gift/card
7. Pajamas (if you’re spending the night)
In my case, I got ready before I got in the car & so did Max. Yes, we drove 3.5 hours in our dress clothes…AHA! The wedding started at 4p & check-in for the hotel was at 4p, so we drove straight to the wedding!
We woke up, ate (DON’T FORGET TO EAT!), watched a little ridiculousness & started to get ready! I did my hair & makeup while Max showered, we packed (yeah, last minute) then jumped in the car & headed toward our destination!
We literally made it right at 4p! & it was a beautiful ceremony & beautiful reception! We had such a fun time that, like everything good in life, it went by way too fast…AHA!
My final tip: pack for the unexpected!!
I woke up Saturday morning & walked out onto the balcony & my jaw dropped! We were right on the water, I mean everything is right on the water but it’s not every day you’re RIGHT ON THE WATER! I talked to our neighbor for a bit then went back inside & said OMG MAX WE HAVE TO STAY! So we decided why the hell wouldn’t we?? Max stepped out on the balcony & had the same reaction. I was so happy we were on the same page.
We rushed to get ready for the day with barely anything because we got ready at our apartment before we left… So all we had were our toothbrushes & spare clothes & by spare I mean SPARE…Max walked around in dress shoes all day, we both only had jeans & t-shirts for the 90 degree day & Max actually ended up buying a t-shirt half way through our adventure…AHA! Honestly though, it didn’t matter what we were wearing we had so much fun that day!
It’s always good to be prepared but if you’re with the right company you can have fun & make do!
Happy Tuesday!
That’s all…xxTay!
