I’ve found that meal prepping is so import when it comes to staying on track. Having healthy food available when you’re in a rush helps you from grabbing something not so healthy on the go! Meal prep is also V helpful when you’re at work & all your coworkers want to order pizza or something not so healthy. It’s nice to have your own healthy options to not tempt you to grab a slice, as well.
Here are some tips to making meal prep a breeze:
Make a Grocery List!
Knowing what you want before you go into a grocery store helps prevent you from wondering down the chip & cookie aisles. Although, don’t think you can’t! Everything is fine in moderation & portions. I LOVE cookies & always grab cookie mix to bake or a container of Oreos for my sweet tooth. Having other sweet options, too will give you a nice variation so you don’t eat an entire row of Oreos or roll of uncooked Pillsbury dough! I like mixing coconut milk yogurt with chocolate protein powder & peanut butter…YUM! Make sure you have a lot of fresh produce on your list as well as protein!
Have Enough Containers!
If this means doing the dishes or going out & buying some new gear, get it done! Having your meals portioned out in containers makes it easier to grab & go & keep track of what you’re putting in your body!
Make Your Meals the Night Before!
When you’re rushing around in the morning you don’t want to have to worry about your meals for the entire day. When you don’t have things prepared this could lead to unhealthy meal & snack options. I LOVE baking a ton of vegetables & splitting them up into separate containers & picking my protein to add the morning of! I also like have easy snack options to through in my lunch bag like bananas, apples, oranges, etc…
Don’t JUST Buy Leafs!
You will get tired of eating salads every day for lunch & dinner real quick… When you’re bored with your meal options, this is when you’ll start making bad food decisions! I do LOVE a good salad, though. Loaded up with veggies & protein & homemade dressing…YUM!
Pick Your Drinks Wisely!
Smoothies are great & fast to whip up. Also, premade juices you can buy at a grocery store or Target, like Suja. I LOVE Kombucha, so I always try to have a few bottles in my fridge at all times!
I love meal prepping because it helps me stay on track when I really don’t want to. Last night after class Max ran to McDonald’s & happened to grab me a medium, which I ate…had I went grocery shopping at all that week I could’ve beat that temptation. Especially because I haven’t had anything from McDonalds in years, except their strawberry milk shakes! I hope my tips have helped you & you don’t have to resort to eating the bottom of the bag fries…which I also ate…
Happy Thursday!
That’s all…xxTay!
