I’m gonna start by saying…next year I’m going to do February LOL but honestly it wasn’t that bad. I do this almost every year but this is the first year I actually made it the full 31 days. Most years there’s an event or I’ll forget and have a glass of wine w/ dinner or order a mimosa at brunch BUT considering there are not events or brunch going on there really weren’t many opportunities to slip up…
I mainly do this every year because the holidays I tend to drink a lot. I wouldn’t say I’m a huge drinker (I used to be) but I really don’t surround myself with people that drink a lot therefor I don’t really feel “left out” and if there was an “event” none of my friends ever pressured me to drink or told me my reset was lame. Key factor: surround yourself with supportive people…why should it matter to them if you’re drinking or not??
Lauren Elizabeth is super helpful if you ever want to stop drinking. She is completely sober whereas I am not, and yes, I know the two are very different but it was helpful watching her videos and hearing her talk about her journey. Also, getting great alternative drinks to have at night when reading or watching TV.
I do feel I was more productive on weekends, even when I’d stay out late on weekends at a friends house drinking my Kombucha LOL the next mornings I’d wake up at 7.30am & get my day started. Weekdays were pretty much the same because I don’t really drink on week nights so nothing to compare…wake up, clock in, work, clock out, quarantine LOL
I felt like this time around it was a great way to start 2021 because 2020 was a mess & during quarantine I’d have a glass of wine (or two) on a Tuesday by myself while watching Stranger Things so it helped kind of get me back on track and not revolve my social life or lack there of around drinking. Highly recommend trying a dry month or even week if you feel blah and want to restart!
That’s all…xxTay!
