Whether it’s the weekend or I’m working my 9-5 I love having all these foods at my disposal at ALL times! There are just some foods you can’t live without! These happen to be the healthy foods I reach for when I need a pick me up snack or want to stay on track with my meals!
1. Overnight Oats: They are so easy to make & convenient. As long as you remember to make them, you’re good to go. & you can make a lot at once & portion them out, so you have a snack for the next few days.
Ingredients:
· 1 cup rolled oats
· 1 cup almond milk
· ½ cup protein powder (flavored)
· 1 tablespoon chia seeds
· Handful of fruit (your choice)
2. Bananas & Peanut Butter: This is my go-to of all go-tos & I even got my manager snacking on this every morning! This gives the perfect amount of protein to get through the morning ‘til lunch time!
3. Almonds! Or trail mix…perfect for on the go & you can make trail mix in bulk & portion off for the rest of the week! I’ve also heard that snacking on about 10 almonds gets rid of headaches. Almonds are probably the easiest snack to pack & go!
4. Smoothies! If you’re looking for something in a hurry just grab whatever you have in your fridge & freezer & go to town! I love adding protein powder to my smoothies, especially if I’m making a smoothie for breakfast. I definitely need some type of protein to start my day or else I’ll be hangry by 10am & not someone my coworkers would want to be around!
Ingredients:
· Handful (or more) of spinach
· 1 cup water or almond milk
· ¼ cup protein powder (flavored)
· Handful of berries (your choice)
· 1 banana
5. Yogurt & Granola! I love coconut milk yogurt mixed with granola. Coconut milk yogurt can be a little more liquidy than normal or even Greek yogurt, so I like the extra texture that granola adds. It’s the perfect combination! Sometimes I even add a bit of protein powder to balance out the sugar in the yogurt!
6. Romaine & Protein! Any kind of protein can work. Sometimes I’ll make a taco salad with romaine, corn, avocado, meatless ground “beef” or black beans & salsa! Other times when I’m being basic I’ll just add chickpeas & some type of veggie & avocado if I have one. Protein is key! I also make my own dressing.
Ingredients:
· 2 tablespoons olive oil
· 1 tablespoon ACV
7. Hummus & Veggies! I LOVE carrots chips. They are just easier to bite into & they scoop hummus so much better than baby carrots. Hummus is just the best light snack & comes in so many different flavors!
8. Eggs! Hardboiled, scrambled, poached…etc. It doesn’t matter if they’re in fried rice or used to make a healthy omelet. I LOVE eggs! I always add flax seeds & some type of spice or seasoning. Since we moved I’ve been using taco seasoning on my fired eggs! I also love adding hardboiled eggs to my salads.
9. Granola Bars! Did I say almonds were the easiest snack?? Okay, maybe granola bars wins. Literally the go-to for grab & go! So easy & you can eat them anywhere at any time! Just shove some in your purse & desk & you’re good to go ‘til you have to refill your stock!
10. Fish Tacos! The best for last! Maybe not healthy unless you use lettuce leaves as your substitute tortillas but fish tacos are my FAVORITE food EVER! I have fish tacos once a week…literally any restaurant we go to I look for fish tacos on the menu. When Max & I have taco Tuesday I LOVE making shrimp tacos when I don’t use my fake meat crumbles. I don’t know what it is, it’s such an unusual combination but it’s the greatest meal on this planet…with a side of chips & guac…French fries…cookies…
Alright…I need to stop or my key board will be covered in drool! Hopefully this helps you when meal prepping your own on the go or not so on the go meals & snacks. Now, I’m on my way to grab a smoothie. Sometimes it’s nice to have a smoothie made for you, no mess no stress!
Happy Friday!
That’s all…xxTay!
