Happy Tuesday! Did anyone get anything on Amazon Prime Day?? I got a couple Christmas presents & a new kindle because I lost mine! So it was pretty successful!
Anyway, today I’m going to talk about my skin care routine. I feel like my skin is in a very good place right now because…drum roll, please… I have NOT ONE pimple on my face!! (I’m sure this will change come that time of the month but for now I’m enjoying it aha also this doesn’t mean I don’t have some scars) This is a HUGE success for me because I’ve had rollercoaster skin since college. Yeah, not high school when I didn’t even know what face wash was & literally would use a warm wash cloth to clean my face every morning…the good ole days when I had perfect glowing hydrated skin.
Since college however I’ve had oily to dry to very dry to combination to you name it throw in some acne & voila, that’s my face. So it’s taken sometime to figure out what exactly works for my face. Not to mention I’m sure the stress of just being in college didn’t help my complexion in the slightest. Anyway, in college I would pick something, my skin would start clearing up & like that a new problem would arise when I moved home for the summer.
Once I was home for good between relationships, work & life in general everything would eventually stop working. Not sure why actually but, like I always say, nothing lasts forever… Until DAHDUNAHA now! I think I have the solution to my V V picky high maintenance skin & that’s listening to it & training it not to be so damn high maintenance… Seriously, I literally just went minimal & as simplistic as possible (unless I felt it needed a little extra) & so far it’s working.
Here’s what I did:
If I don’t have time in the morning to wash my face & it’s not feeling gross, I don’t touch it, end of story. If I left some unwashed makeup or spray tan on overnight, I lightly wash it or use a makeup wipe (literally it’s whatever I feel my skin needs). I don’t go too crazy in the morning unless my skin really looks/feels like it needs a little extra TLC.
This, however, is different on the weekends. If I’m having a slow Saturday in bed I’ll wash or not wash my face & put on a face mask, depending on how my skin feels that’s the type of mask I use. After I remove the mask I put on lotion or oils but this all depends!
My night time skin routine is way different because I usually have more time or don’t want to spend time. If I’m going to get a spray tan I’ll exfoliate my face (once a week) with my Clarisonic Mia 2 (I use this brush all the time usually at night) & when I get home I’ll lightly wash it with a cleanser & same for the next morning, just a light wash with a light cleanser or just water alone. If my skin needs a little more TLC I’ll wash my face & put on a mask, after the mask is off I use lotion &/ oils all depending on what my skin needs.
These routines also depend on the seasons. In the winter my skin I unavoidably dry so I lather up the lotion & oils & even use lotion in the morning. In the summer I can usually get away with just using oils & only using lotion before I apply makeup.
*Side note: I always wash my face before putting on makeup & apply lotion (not oils) & TRY to always remove my make up before bed but I’m not always perfect…SHOCKING! *
These tricks have been working so well FOR ME but everyone’s different. Here are some of the products I use & LOVE…literally couldn’t live without!
That’s all…xxTay!
