In the year 2021 I read about 74 books, give or take a couple. This year my goal is to read 100! If you want to keep count of your books and/set a goal, the Goodreads app is a good way to add and have them count for you toward your goal.
The Wedding Date: 5/5 super cute, typical fake dating plot. The only difference from other fake dating romances was from the start they openly liked each other and flirted A LOT! If you like fake dating novels, you’ll enjoy this one.
Goodbye, Paris: 3/5 I always judge books but the cover and based on the cover I did not expect the story that followed. I did enjoy the story although I don’t like books about “the other woman” this one had me intrigued. It was a pretty messed up book and ended up rooting for Grace in the end.
The Bride Test: 2/5 It was a little weird. It was like reading about 16 year olds in adult bodies playing house in an episode of 90 Day Fiancé with a lot of unnecessary dramaaaa…there was just a lot going on in this book.
Anxious People: 4/5 what a weird book…I thought…LOL. All the characters were a little outrageous and then the end it all made sense. It seemed like a book based on an adult cartoon like Bob’s Burgers or a show like Parks and Rec (which I loved) or The Office, just a little too unreal. With that being said the book was good and I like books with different stories going on at once like the movie He’s Just Not that into You. If you like books with unexpected twists and happy endings you’ll like this book.
How to Marry Keanu Reeves in 90 Days: 5/5 So corny and so cute. If you can’t guess the end from the first chapter you’re not a romcom reader LOL the story is what really makes me read romcoms which I LOVED! It is a bit of a slow burn but definitely worth it.
Paris is Always a Good Idea: 5/5 Naturally I picked up this book because it had Audrey Hepburn written all over it LOL also any book written in Paris or NYC is my kind of book. This book didn’t disappoint my romcom hopes for this book. It was so cute and at first I didn’t expect the love interest but was very happy how everything unfolded.
In Five Years: 5/5 If you like reading books that will make you cry this is the one for you. What a great book. Heartbreaking. Devastating. But great. I didn’t know where anything was going until it got there and loved how this story unfolded…most of it.
Royal Holiday: 3/5 At first I didn’t think I would be able to get into it but like every other rom-com and hallmark movie I got sucked right in LOL I was a little disappointed because I thought the love interest would be royalty.
The Tourist Attraction: 5/5 Such a cute rom com book for winter. I love books about guys who hate everyone but fall hard for that one special someone.
Where the Crawdads Sing: 3/5 This is not my typical type of genre. I’ve been trying to venture out more but it was pretty hard for me to get through this book until the first love interest. Also, I really cared about Kya and wanted her to come out on top but the book didn’t start getting good until more than halfway through.
Christmas Shopaholic: 4/5 Becky is still outrageous LOL such an unbelievable character and so entertaining. Such a cute and light happily ever after Christmas book with plenty of goofy twists!
The Kiss Quotient: 4/5 Super cute! If you like “fake dating” scenarios you’ll like this, although I’m not sure if it would fall under that category? The characters kind of reminded me of the characters in The Heart Principle (the authors other book) and I love that she always has a main character on the spectrum and a very happy ending!
Kisses and Croissants: 5/5 what a heartbreaking book. I almost cried LOL it’s such a cute high school romance book with a twist ending for a romcom! If you like The Lizzie McGuire Movie you’ll like this!
The Proposal: 5/5 Reminded me of The Wedding Date and I realized it was the same author! Definitely going to be checking if she has any other books. I love how this book went through the feelings of dating someone for a short period of time and falling hard but trying to rationalize that it’s too soon.
The Last Thing He Told Me: 5/5 Definitely did not see that ending coming. But also the actual end of the book I can’t!! The growth between Hannah and Bailey made me so happy. Such a good mystery read. Nothing scary or suspenseful but enough mystery to keep you reading and unable to stop.
Sex and Vanity: 4/5 This book was definitely a slow burn but once you get to pArt II the book starts to get juicy NOT saying how part I ended wasn’t juicy…super cute and did not disappoint as a romcom.
People We Meet on Vacation: 5/5 What a great book. And just another example of why I believe guys and girls can’t be best friends. One or both parties will always feel some type of way for the other. That being said I loved this book. This author is amazing! She always makes a light story deep and really makes you feel.
56 Days: 4/5 It was weird reading this book about the pandemic we’re about to enter year 3 of. I also, for whatever reason, thought this book was about a few different families and how they handled the pandemic and somehow all their lives were connected. I didn’t like how the book jumped around, I wouldn’t mind if it was just two stories. However, flipping back from present to past to his point of view to hers out of order was too much BUT it makes sense why in the end.
The Wrong Family: 4/5 What a twisted book! There was so much going on behind the scenes I didn’t except the finale! If you like thrillers you’ll enjoy this book.
The Holiday Switch: 5/5 Super cute YA holiday rom-com. Also, I started reviewing books on my blog a year ago and the main character has a book blog where she reviews holiday books!
A Woman is No Man: 5/5 I could not put this book down…I was up until 2am the night I started it and finished the next day. Wow. First, I love reading books about characters who love reading books. Second, what a powerful book. I think I got so wrapped up in this book because I graduated high school in 2009 (which is the same age as Deya) and didn’t know if I wanted to go to college (I did) but I definitely wouldn’t have wanted to get married! It definitely puts life into perspective when you read about people living in the same time period/country as you but a totally different upbringing. Everyone needs to read this book! trigger warming: domestic abuse & suicide
Daisy Jones & The Six: 5/5 I felt like I was watching a documentary or a movie about this band. While everyone else was watching wheel of fortune while they were home sick from school, I was watching VH1 behind the music and this is what this book reminded me of. I finished this book in one day and it swallowed me whole. I LOVED this book. Taylor Jenkins Reid has to be one of my favorite authors.
The Comeback: 5/5 These stories are always so impacting and sad because they happen all the time and are rarely talked about. I loved how this story was written and really felt for Grace and wanted her to come out on top.
The Knockout Queen: 5/5 I love books like this even though they make me sad. I love reading stories about friendships and how the grow and change and fall out or fall back together. This book was pretty deep and a bit disturbing? If you like the show Euphoria you’ll enjoy this book.
The Holiday Swap: 5/5 This book was such a cute holiday romcom. I loved the story and the relationship between the twins and how it grew. The plot was goofy and the characters were easily lovable. Highly recommend.
That’s all…xoxoTay!
