Very late, I know. And yes, I will be uploading a March book club very soon LOL
Crying in H Mart: Okay so I thought this was gonna be more of a funny memoir like crying about what a joke my life is not crying because I’m sad, so just keep that in mind if you pick up this book.
A Court of Thorns and Roses: 3/5 This book was so different than any book I’ve read before. Although, some parts were hard to follow especially because I got names confused so much LOL I did enjoy it and would like to see what comes with the second book in this series.
The Final Revival of Opal and Nev: 4/5 This book reminded me of Daisy Jones and The Six, which also reminded me of a VH1 behind the music but this book had the POV from a different culture.
Skye Falling: 4/5 such a cute deep book. I thought it was going to be a typical rom com but it was so much more than that. Between family drama, old and new loves and current world affairs; this book had it all. If you picked it up for romance however it is the slowest of slow burns, there’s really no love story but their is a lot of friendship building and character reflecting.
Park Avenue Summer: 5/5 I obviously picked this one due solely to the cover and then the title LOL I didn’t realize it was based on an actual person until the author notes at the end, which made it all the more fabulous imo. It’s set in 1960’s (so was my fav movie, Breakfast at Tiffany’s) and it tells the story of an aspiring photographer who becomes the assistant of the editor of Cosmo magazine during a time when woman’s sexuality was not talked about openly and once in the book was referred to as ‘crude.’ I will definitely be reading “Sex and the Single Girl” next! IYKYK
The Guncle: 5/5 SOOOO cute. Reminded me of the movie “Raising Helen” which I LOVED. It’s very heartfelt and funny and endearing and just and overall good book!
Dark Matter: 5/5 If you liked Midnight Library this would be a darker more twisted version of that novel. I love books like this because it always makes me think “what if?” But it’s also pretty wild to think there can be so many different ways your life could turn out if you were five minutes late for the first day of school or didn’t move away for college or taking someone instead back of moving on etc.
Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating: 4/5 SPOILER ALERT! I loved everything except how rushed I felt the ending was. I loved both personalities. I loved the plot. I really wished the author would have given them more time to be together or at least gave us a little more of them being together.
Love and Other Disasters: 3/5 Slooooww. The main characters were in there late 20’s but I kept feeling like I was reading about teenagers in high school. They lacked depth which made it hard to actually connect with them and get sucked into their story. I did however learn a new LGBT term and feel this book will help other people in London’s situation feel comfortable with the status of their gender.
All Grown Up: 2/5 ehh. I was really looking forward to this book and very disappointed. I didn’t like the writing style and I wasn’t interested in the story. The only thing that really kept me intrigued was how sorry I felt to Andrea. She was a somewhat deep character, however mediocre her life was.
The Great Alone: 4/5 I read this as a book club read and by chapter 4 I had to ask “are all her books depressing AF?” The answer was yes. LOL however depressing, this book was so good. Every bit of this book had meaning and was so well written. I am definitely going to be picking up another one of this authors books.
No Judgements: 5/5 Animal lovers and rom com lovers go pick up this book! This book was so cute I couldn’t put it down. Family, love and pets! What more could you ask for in a book?? Trigger warning: sexual assault reference (this is not the storyline but it is apart of the main characters past).
A History of Wild Places: 5/5 Whoa. This was such a good book and so out of the box for me.
The Unraveling of Cassidy Holmes: 4/5 such a good book. However, I wish there was more closure or more unraveling throughout the book. The story was great though. Young girls in the public eye and how disposable they are is something that goes on everyday and we never think anything of it. Trigger warning: suicide and rape.
No Offense: 5/5 I love when books start off swinging and this one didn’t disappoint! That being said, this book was pretty deep and not what I was expecting at all…in a good way and I did get my rom com fix so naturally I loved it. Note: you don’t have read all the books in order although I did abs you get little bits and pieces that make sense if you do.
Real Murders: 4/5 I couldn’t help but not take this book seriously. It is about real murder but for whatever reason it reminded me of a Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler murder movie not like a Helter Skelter.
They Both Die in the End: 3/5 Would you want to know when you’re gonna die? What would you do if you knew you only had one day to live? The way this book was written is a little creepy. You get a call the day you’re going to die but you don’t know any details and you just have to figure out what you’re going to do on your last day before you’re gone.
The Dinner List: 5/5 omg I have chills! Such a lovely romantic book. I’ve been reading a lot of sad books though so hopefully the next one I pick up is a rom com or at least has a happy ending LOL.
Maybe in Another Life: 5/5 I loved this alternate life storyline and of course I love a book with a great friendship.
That’s all…xoxoTay!
